As of 2007, Governor Woodward is a $1 billion company with offices around the world, including: Japan, China, Europe and many other companies. On January 26, 2011, the Company announced that shareholders had approved the name change to its current name.
Woodward & Company was founded in 1870 by Amos Woodward & Company as Woodward Governor & Company. At first, Governor Woodward controlled the water wheel (first patent no. 103813) and then switched to a hydraulic turbine. In the 1920s and 1930s, Woodward began designing diesel and other reciprocating engines, as well as controls for industrial turbines.
Woodward brushless DC motor
Industry leader in aerospace and defense motion control applications
Woodward designs brushless DC motors for aerospace and defense motion control applications and developments in the industry. Woodward's brushless DC motor (BLDC) originally came from our AC motor line. Woodward has been producing brushless DC motors for important aerospace and defense applications for more than 30 years.
Dimensions and capacity
Woodward has more than 130 years of experience in the design and manufacture of engine controllers used in aerospace, industrial engines, turbines, and power generation controls.
The Woodward G-3P actuator in the hydraulic amplifier converts the electrical control signal into a rotational output, which is then hydraulically amplified to control the servo position output. Hydraulic amplifiers are suitable for steam turbines or large engines with relatively large actuating force.
The WOODWARDTG governor is a self-contained, independent oil source, mechanical hydraulic differential governor for small steam turbines that do not require synchronous (constant speed) operation.
Woodward PG-PL governors are widely used for speed control, drive pumps and compressors in all types of diesel engines, gas engines and steam turbines.
Woodward PPL actuators are used in gas engines or steam turbines to replace PGPL, PGL, and PGD governors without changing the original PG drive linkage. This provides convenience for electric adjustment and transformation.
