PA6首先由德国的BASF联营公司于三十年末期开发出来，四十年初期正式工业化生产。聚酰胺大分子结构中含有大量的酰胺基团，大分子末端为氨基或羧基，是一种强极，能形成键且具有一定反应活的半结晶聚合物。
